Gaylan Peturis, M.S., CCC-SLP

Director of Speech Therapy

Gaylan is head of the Speech Therapy department at AARC, leading her team of highly-qualified therapists in various speech-related treatments. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2003 in Communicative Disorders and earned her Masters in Speech-language Pathology from the University of Montevallo in 2005. She has experience working in home health, elementary school, acute-care hospital, and out-patient clinical settings. She has worked with multiple diagnoses, but especially enjoys helping patients and families affected by autism. Gaylan carries certifications in iLs (advanced practitioner), VitalStim, the SOS Approach to Feeding, ADOS Testing, the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and has obtained specialized training in Talk Tools Oral Motor Protocol, Interactive Metronome, and other feeding/swallowing therapies.

As part of the team at AARC, Gaylan enjoys working together with different areas of professional disciplines to reach the common goal of making lives better. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and three children. You can also find her crafting on her days off, singing, playing the flute or other music-related activities in her church.
