Gaylan Peturis, M.S., CCC-SLP

Director of Speech Therapy

Gaylan is the Director of Speech Therapy at AARC and is honored to lead her team of highly-qualified therapists. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2003 with a Bachelor's in Communicative Disorders and earned her Masters in Speech-language Pathology from the University of Montevallo in 2005. She has experience working in home health, elementary school, acute-care hospital, and out-patient clinical settings. She has worked with multiple diagnoses but especially enjoys helping patients and families affected by autism. Gaylan carries certifications in iLs (advanced practitioner), VitalStim, the SOS Approach to Feeding, ADOS Testing, the Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and has obtained specialized training in the Talk Tools Oral Motor Protocol, Interactive Metronome, and other feeding/swallowing therapies.

Gaylan enjoys collaborating with other professional disciplines to reach the common goal of making lives better. She loves getting to know all her patients and their families and is passionate about providing functional therapy that produces results and impacts lives. Outside of work, you can find her spending time with her husband, three children and Goldendoodle puppy, Coda, singing or playing her flute at church, and watching college football (or mourning the loss of college football during any other season). Gaylan is hilarious and fun to be around…at least, that’s what she wrote in her bio.
